What is the main cause of diabetes
Many people suffer from the chronic disease of diabetes. Sufferers find that the body either doesn’t produce enough insulin, or it can’t use its own insulin as well as it should. This can lead to serious health problems which may include blindness, kidney failure, and heart disease.
Diabetes is not contagious but does run in families. Some cases of diabetes are caused by genetics, while others are caused by obesity or lack of exercise. Diabetes is generally classified into two distinct types, known as Type 1 and Type 2.
Type 1 diabetes is caused by a problem within the body that is not caused by diet or lifestyle – the body simply does not produce insulin. Type 1 is much less common than Type 2 diabetes.
Type 2 diabetes is most usually caused by lifestyle factors and may develop from other conditions and consumption of too much sugar. The result is that the body does not respond to insulin correctly.
In either case, diabetes requires careful management by choosing to eat the right foods. A balance must be achieved as, due to the insulin issues, eating a diet too high or too low in sugar can cause severe problems that may even result in death.
A chiropractor may help with diabetes through nutrition advice and exercises to increase blood flow to the internal organs and restore impaired nerve communications. The pancreas is often noted as being of particular concern for Type 2 as inflammation of this organ can damage the cells that produce insulin. Similarly, impairment to the nerves can prevent the body from creating the correct amount of insulin.
These issues can be resolved through chiropractic care, realigning the body to correct insulin production regulation through the nervous system.
